Nottingham Forest could bring a player who left the City Ground in 2019 back to the club this summer.

Since Steve Cooper led the Garibaldi back to the Premier League, a number of new players have joined,

including Anthony Elanga and Murillo; nevertheless, a well-known player might soon be back in red.

Who, then, is Nottingham Forest able to sign again this summer? Let’s examine this.

Ben Brereton Diaz, a monitor for Nottingham Forest

According to a Daily Mail article, Nottingham Forest is reportedly keeping an eye on Ben Brereton Diaz and may take

action if Taiwo Awoniyi decides to leave the City Ground.

The main story being covered by The Daily Mail is that other clubs are interested in Marco Silva,

thus he may be a possibility for Evangelos Marinakis if Nuno Espirito Santo leaves this summer.

However, it is mentioned at the bottom of the article that Nottingham Forest will consider bids for Awoniyi this

summer following the Nigerian international’s injury-plagued 2023–24 campaign,

and that they will go for Diaz if a buyer is found.

After spending the latter half of the previous season on loan at Sheffield United, the Chilean international,

who graduated from Nottingham Forest’s academy in 2017, finds himself at a turning point in his career.

After the Blades are relegated to the Championship, Diaz—who is under contract with Villarreal—is unlikely to join

the team permanently. He also doesn’t appear to have much of a future in Spain, so a return to the City Ground is a

possibility.

Before joining Blackburn Rovers, the Stoke-on-Trent native made 57 appearances for Nottingham Forest between

2017 and 2019, tallying nine goals and supplying seven assists.

Despite Che Adams’ apparent move to Wolves, Nuno appears to be looking for a new frontman.
