Scarr signed a new contract with Sunderland in 2020, tying her to the team through the summer of 2026.

The 24-year-old was the team’s top scorer in both of the previous two seasons and was named Sunderland’s Women’s Player of the Year.

She finished the previous season with seven goals in 10 FA Women’s Championship games,

including the first goal in a 5-3 derby triumph over Durham Women and a brace in victories of 3-0 over Sheffield United and Watford.

She was also in excellent form.

After securing a new contract, Scarr expressed her happiness. I firmly believe that this is the location where I can grow as a player and advance.

“I’m so happy I signed; I’ve loved it here and I love the coaches and my team.”

“Emily scored some important goals last season, especially towards the end of it,

and that really contributed towards our promotion charge,” stated Mel Reay, head coach of Sunderland Women.

“I hope we can continue together next season, and I’m thrilled she sees her future here with us.”
