Atletico Madrid reignite interest in Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg after their move for the £15m-rated Dane fell through last summer

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, a midfielder for Tottenham, is apparently the target of Atletico Madrid once again after having

an offer for the Dane rejected last summer.

Diego Simeone is well-known for being a fan of the 28-year-old, and the team believes they are in a stronger position to complete the transfer this summer after keeping a close eye on Hojbjerg at Tottenham.

With just one year left on his Tottenham contract, Hojbjerg has drawn interest from teams that may provide him more regular starts and novel challenges.

In order to make room on their squad for new players, Atletico has let go of Stefan Savic and Memphis Depay, and

Simeone is currently looking for a defensive midfielder.

Hojbjerg has attracted interest from Fulham, Juventus, and Napoli within the past year. The Denmark international

is valued at £15 million, and Atletico hopes to hammer out a deal with Tottenham for him.

Simeone has requested the club to put his guy ahead of a number of interested parties, including Fenerbahce, since he

thinks he possesses the kind of skills he is seeking for in the engine room of his side.

Hojbjerg joined Tottenham during the time that Jose Mourinho, who recently assumed the position of head coach at the Turkish powerhouse, was their manager.

Hojbjerg seems to be one of those players that Ange Postecoglou believes doesn’t have a future at Tottenham.

Postecoglou is now on a mission to rejuvenate the Tottenham team.

In Postecoglou’s massive purge, Ryan Sessegnon, Eric Dier, Ivan Perisic, and Japhet Tanganga have already left, and

it now seems more probable that Tottenham would sell Hojbjerg in the next window as opposed to letting his contract expire.

Over the course of the previous season, Hojbjerg was forced to settle for a supporting position for Postecoglou, making

28 of his 36 Premier League appearances as a substitute.

When the Dane made a pubic statement to Postecoglou in March, it probably didn’t assist his Tottenham circumstances.
