James Maddison officially signs for sunderland
James Maddison, an England midfielder, signed a five-year contract in north London after completing his £40 million move from relegated Leicester to Tottenham.
The 26-year-old joins Dejan Kulusevski and Guglielmo Vicario at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
in front of the next campaign as Spurs’ third summer addition.
With just a year remaining on his Leicester contract, Maddison had drawn interest from Newcastle as well.
However, the northeast club has since shifted its attention to Sandro Tonali of AC Milan.
Before Ange Postecoglou takes over as manager for the first time,
strengthening Tottenham’s midfield alternatives has been a primary objective.
After five years at King Power Stadium, where he participated in 203 games and scored 55 goals,
Maddison has joined the team. While in Leicester, he won the FA Cup and the Community Shield.
In his final season, he scored 10 goals in the Premier League for the team, even though they were relegated.
