Now, Sunderland might have to compete with two teams to recruit a single “amazing” player this summer.

Sunderland is just days away from the summer window.

But Kyril Louis-Dreyfus yesterday acknowledged in a statement that an appointment was “imminent,”

indicating that an arrival next week is highly possible.

they have not even begun to reconstruct a team that struggles to score goals,

lacks experience, and has low confidence.

They might now try to add some additional creativity to their midfield

in addition to their eagerness to bring in a new striker for the team.

The Sun claims that Sunderland “may join” Bristol City and Birmingham City

in the competition to sign Scott Twine for the upcoming summer.

The 24-year-old, who scored 20 goals and contributed 13 assists for MK Dons in League One, signed with Burnley in 2022.

Despite his struggles in his limited time at Turf Moor, Twine was eventually transferred on loan to Hull City,

where he contributed seven goals in 25 appearances.

Even though Twine scored on his debut, he had trouble returning to his previous

level of play during his two-month hiatus and ended the season with just one more goal.

However, Sunderland is also contemplating a move,

and the Robins were evidently impressed by his displays and may make another bid.

Although Burnley is ready to sell Twine after two years at the club,

Birmingham appears to be the team most likely to make a move for the midfield player.

According to the source, Birmingham is “keen” to sign Twine.

The 24-year-old was reportedly purchased by the Clarets for almost £5 million,

and they will be keen to recoup some of that cost when they release him.

Although his exact cost is unknown,

Sunderland would probably have to pay millions of dollars to sign him given the two years remaining on his deal.

Given his injury struggles and patchy play, six goals and three assists isn’t a bad return for Twine.

Although he is unquestionably far from the performer he was with MK Dons in League One,

he has had difficulty earning a consistent number of starts,

so perhaps some more belief in him can help him succeed next season.

For the Black Cats, who have yet to replace Alex Pritchard or Amad Diallo, Twine may be a very wise addition.

Without any of their old players, Sunderland has truly struggled to generate chances,

and Jobe Bellingham isn’t dependable when it comes to running past opponents

and executing passing plays with Patrick Roberts.

Even though Twine is expensive, Kristjaan Speakman should consider investing in him because he has the potential to earn a profit in a few years.
