Julian Alvarez breaks silence on his move to Atletico Madrid as Manchester City’s ‘asking price’ is revealed.

Julian Alvarez breaks silence on his move to Atletico Madrid as Manchester City’s ‘asking price’ is revealed.

The president of Atletico Madrid has spoken out about the possibility of signing Julian Alvarez of Manchester City.

After finishing his second season at City, Alvarez scored 19 goals to help Pep Guardiola’s team win the Premier League for the fourth time in a row.

The City marksman finished the season with the eighth-most minutes of any City player, despite officially spending the majority of his time in Manchester as Erling Haaland’s backup. He made 54 appearances across all competitions last season.

But according to the Spanish newspaper Marca, Alvarez is thinking of making a move to become more well-known because he knows Haaland will always be in a higher position than him.

Additionally, Marca said that Atletico had already approached the Premier League winners about the possibilities of a deal for Alvarez, but they had “flatly refused” the move.

Enrique Cerezo, the president of Atlético, has said something about the situation, in fact.

He declared: “I don’t think Julian Alvarez will leave Manchester City; he is a player there.”

City reportedly wouldn’t entertain offers for Alvarez unless they were at least €80 million (£67.9 million) before add-ons, which would probably be too much for Atletico.

Alvarez has three years remaining on his contract when he joined City two summers ago from River Plate at an initial £14 million cost.

Reports from his home country of Argentina have also stated that Chelsea is getting ready to make a move for Alvarez.

After acquiring Cole Palmer and Raheem Sterling in recent years and Mateo Kovacic moving from Stamford Bridge to the Etihad, Chelsea’s management has a good working relationship with City.
