Alexander Isak’s deal to Arsenal has taken an unexpected turn after Newcastle suffered a financial setback. Over the past few months, the Gunners have demonstrated a strong interest in Isak;

however,

it appears that the Magpies’ astounding asking price—which is about £200 million—has turned

them off.

Another attacker Arsenal is interested in is Benjamin Sesko of RB Leipzig, who should come in

much cheaper. Although efforts are being made to persuade him to sign a new deal and stay for an additional season, the German team is not exactly eager on his leaving.

After only losing out on winning the Premier League, Arsenal will be looking to bolster their roster. Alexander Isak, a striker for Newcastle United, has been linked to the Gunners.

Arsenal has been looking for a new striker for a while now; players like Viktor Gyokeres and

Benjamin Sesko have been connected to moves to North London. However, following yet another

strong Premier League season, Isak might be the best of the lot.

With 21 goals and two assists in 30 games this season, the Swedish forward finished third in the

Premier League scoring standings at the end of the season. The 24-year-old striker, who only joined Newcastle for £58 million two years ago, won’t be cheap, though.

Could Isak thus prove to be Arteta’s missing component if Arsenal signed him during the summer transfer window? Let’s examine this.

Arsenal’s 2024/25 season simulated with Alexander Isak

We moved Isak to Arsenal during the summer transfer window in Football Manager 2024 in order to set up this simulation, and then we simulated the 2024–2025 season. The Newcastle striker gave the Gunners a good performance.

Isak was quickly established by Arteta as his first-choice striker during his rookie campaign with the Gunners, as the Swede made 49 appearances in all competitions. Isak significantly increased his goal total while playing at Arsenal, finishing the season as the team’s leading scorer with 28 goals in all competitions.

Complete Arsenal starting lineup (4-3-3): Raya; Saka, Isak, Martinelli; Partey, Odegaard, Rice; White, Saliba, Gabriel, Timber.
