Manchester City make decision over Julian Alvarez transfer as Atletico/Chelsea prepare bid

According to rumors in Spain, Chelsea is considering a move for Argentine forward Julian Alvarez,

but Manchester City has already turned down a proposal from Atletico Madrid.

Alvarez recently concluded his second season at City,

where he scored 19 goals to help Pep Guardiola’s team win the Premier League for the first time ever.

The 24-year-old was the eighth-highest outfield City player in terms of minutes played during the season, having made 54 appearances across all competitions.

However, Marca claims that Alvarez is thinking about making a move to increase his profile because he knows he will always trail Erling Haaland at City.

According to the source, Atletico has already approached City on the possibilities of a deal for Alvarez,

but the Premier League winners have “flatly refused” the move.

It’s acknowledged that Atletico would find a minimum price of €80 million (£67.9 million) before add-ons to be too expensive, even if City were to consider selling.

Alvarez still has three years left on his deal after initially joining City in 2022 for a £14 million price from River Plate.

Chelsea is reportedly plotting their own move for Alvarez,

so the city’s tough position does not seem good for them.

The Chelsea management has a good working connection with City,

having brought in Cole Palmer and Raheem Sterling recently,

and Mateo Kovacic moved from Stamford Bridge to the Etihad Stadium in the summer of last year.
