DONE DEAL: Bayer Leverkusen signs Rennes centre-back Jeanuël Belocian for €15m transfer fee

Official news of Jeanuël Belocian’s signing, a center-back from Rennes, has been released by

Bayer Leverkusen (19). The 19-year-old Rennes youth product, who shows promise, has signed a

five-year contract with the Bundesliga winners. Belocian, who can play left back or as a CB, is the

first player Xabi Alonso’s team has signed during the summer transfer window. The Ligue 1 team will

get a transfer fee of €15 million for Jeanuël Belocian, which is a respectable return on investment for

a young player who spent three seasons playing for Les Rouge et Noir.

Leverkusen’s attempts coincided with Jeanuël Belocian’s entering his last year of contract with

Guadeloupe, an island in the French Caribbean, is where Belocian was born. Wilhem, his older brother, is a two-time French Olympic hurdler who has also taken home the European indoor championship.
