DONE DEAL: AC Milan beat Arsenal to sign striker with £35m release clause
After agreeing to pay his release clause, AC Milan is said to have defeated Arsenal in the
competition to capture a major summer transfer target.
Joshua Zirkzee, a striker from the Netherlands, is supposedly on the verge of signing with AC
Milan, the big Italian team, over Arsenal. Since the previous season, Arsenal has had their eye on
the Bologna forward, who is viewed as a more cost-effective option than expensive targets like Viktor Gyokeres, Victor Osimhen, and Alexander Isak—all of whom are estimated to be worth over £100 million.
Arsenal has been keeping an eye on Zirkzee’s condition even though they have made RB Leipzig
attacker Benjamin Sesko their top target due to their great interest in him. Transfer specialist
Fabrizio Romano claims that AC Milan has taken the initiative to acquire the Dutchman, telling
Bologna that they intend to activate his €40 million release clause.
Romano wrote on X, “AC Milan informed Bologna that they are planning to trigger the €40 million release clause for Joshua Zirkzee.” “AC Milan and Zirkzee’s team are currently in talks to settle on personal terms, which is an important matter. Zirkzee is excited about the AC Milan project and is content to remain in Italy.
The administration of AC Milan is actively looking to add a new striker, and Zirkzee is one of their
main targets. The number nine for Bologna may soon be the Rossoneri’s striker, taking Olivier
Giroud’s place as he prepares to join Los Angeles FC in the Major League Soccer.
Even if a formal deal has not yet been made, the Rossoneri’s pressing interest highlights their
earnest aim to sign Zirkzee. The player’s desire to stay in the Italian league may be a deciding
factor in the transaction, meaning AC Milan will probably be his next stop.
To make sure Sesko is not a distraction during the European Champions in Germany later this
month, Arsenal will aim to close a deal on the midfielder before the summer transfer window
opens.
