BREAKING NEWS: Sam Gallagher finally makes a career decision to sign a new contract

Sam Gallagher finally makes a career decision to sign a new contract

Tyrhys Dolan and Sam Gallagher both received contract offers from Blackburn Rovers,

and the players will meet with the club in the summer to discuss their futures.

The agreements signed by both attackers expire in 2024,

but Rovers has the security of possibilities to prolong their existing tenure by an additional year.

Since Gregg Broughton’s arrival, the team has been very proactive in renewing contracts,

and Rovers would like to lock them down to new terms.

In November, The Lancashire Telegraph said that Dolan was eager to concentrate on getting back to his best form,

thus negotiations were on hold. After suffering a knee injury,

the 22-year-old missed time but has now returned to the team.

Even if Dolan were to leave the team in the summer of 2025,

Rovers would still be entitled to payment because he is under 24.

One of Rovers’ highest paid players, Gallagher, piqued Ipswich Town’s interest.

Rovers wanted to get between £2 and £3 million since they didn’t want to sell in January,

but we understand that their offers went up to £1.5 million.

Broughton has now disclosed that both players are still open to receiving new contract offers.

They are all focused on remaining in the Championship until more negotiations to determine their long-term fate take place in the summer, and they have neither been accepted nor rejected.

Broughton told The Lancashire Telegraph, “We have an open dialogue with both players,

and there are contract offers on the table.”

“As of right now, they haven’t been accepted or rejected. Both of the players have that choice.

Tyrhys’ age under 24 means that you have two layers of protection.

Three obstacles must be overcome: remaining in the Championship,

being aware of the budget, and being certain of John Eustace’s desired design.

“In January, Ipswich Town and other teams showed a great deal of interest in Sam Gallagher.

“That’s no surprise, their main centre-forward, George Hirst,

was injured and using the same metrics we used to identify George for us last summer,

we know the best alternative for them to sign on the market was Sam Gallagher.

“My recommendation to the board was very clear.

To sign a replacement for Sam would have been a significant cost in January and not one I felt we would be able to invest in.

“You’re able to do a lot more creative business in the summer.

We have to come to a decision with Sam, not on behalf of him, to work out what his future looks like.

“We have an open dialogue with the players and his representatives over what that might be. There is an offer on the table for him to sign a brand new deal.”
