Arsenal and Juventus on red alert as Aston Villa consider selling Douglas Luiz

TalkSPORT believes that Aston Villa is thinking to offloading midfielder Douglas Luiz this month

in an effort to allay PSR worries.

When Villa’s Premier League opponents voted against their plan to increase the maximum amount

clubs can lose over a three-year period from £105 million to £135 million, Villa suffered a blow.

They are therefore under pressure to raise funds before June 30, the end of the current PSR term.

Italian powerhouse Juventus, who placed third in Serie A last year, is showing interest in Luiz.

After Massimiliano Allegri was relieved of his duties, Juventus is currently searching for a new

manager. Luiz has long been admired by Arsenal as well.

The Brazilian standout had a fantastic season for Villa, making 53 appearances and contributing 10

goals and 10 assists.

If he stays, Luiz is expected to play a significant part in Unai Emery’s team’s preparations to compete

in the Champions League the following season.

However, Villa might be let to go on as he feels the strain of PSR worries.

The Brazilian midfielder joined Manchester City in 2017 after beginning his playing career with

Vasco de Gama.

Luiz played a key role in helping Aston Villa into the Champions League

Luiz joined Aston Villa for £15 million in 2019 after spending two loan stints with Girona. In the

four and a half years that followed, he has established himself as a vital member of the team.

This summer, Aston Villa is already considering adding players to its midfield.

Villa is eager to sign Conor Gallagher from Chelsea, having already reached an agreement to buy

Ross Barkley from Luton.

But if they want to sign the England midfielder, they’ll have to pay £50 million.

Villa may be preparing for life without Luiz by switching up their midfield with Matteo Guendouzi

also being linked.
