Newcastle United have activated Dominic Solanke’s release clause.

Newcastle United have activated Dominic Solanke’s release clause.

Newcastle United are expected to sign one player from Bournemouth this summer,

although Dominic Solanke’s future remains uncertain.

Lloyd Kelly, 25, is expected to move to St James’ Park after his contract with Bournemouth expires this month.

He is poised to sign with Newcastle United as he prepares to reconnect with Eddie Howe.

Bournemouth is losing a significant player, and they may lose someone much more essential.

Dominic Solanke is being linked with a transfer away from the Vitality Stadium,

and his contract reportedly includes a release clause.

Clubs can sign him for £65 million this summer,

making him Newcastle’s most expensive signing ever.

Newcastle United do not have the opportunity to exercise Dominic Solanke’s release clause.

However, his release clause only applies to select clubs.

And HITC Football insider Graeme Bailey has told Geordie Boot Boys that Newcastle United is not among those clubs.

“His release clause is just for the ‘big six’ – Arsenal, Chelsea,

Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur,” he stated.

“Norwich United is not included in it.”
Whatever the case, Solanke would have been too costly for Newcastle.

Although Solanke has been linked to a summer transfer to St. James’ Park,

a deal is most likely off the table at this point.

That would have been too much for the Magpies even at £65 million.

However, as of right now,

Eddie Howe’s team is not even eligible for that offer; instead,

it is only extended to the prestigious and supposedly untouchable “big six.”

Newcastle will most likely need to pay much more than £65 million to acquire Solanke,

which is just not going to happen.

It looks like the Magpies will have to go elsewhere,

even though he would be a fantastic replacement for Callum Wilson should the number nine leave.

What Eddie Howe hinted at earlier this year is summed up in this.

When questioned by the media about Newcastle potentially selling Wilson, he quickly brought up the cost of replacing the 32-year-old.

It will be very hard to find a player of his caliber,

especially since whoever shows up will be Alexander Isak’s second fiddle.

Solanke, who appears unlikely to follow Lloyd Kelly from Bournemouth to Newcastle United,

will not receive that honor.
