Red Bull has acquired a minority ownership share in Leeds, which will bring in further cash investment,

the club announced last week (30 May).

Following a further loss of £34 million in 2021–22, the Yorkshire giants reported a loss of £33.7 million in their most

recent 2022–23 reports.

Leeds will be permitted to lose up to £61 million under PSR during a three-year period that ends with the 2024–25 season.

Wyness claims that despite Red Bull’s funding, Leeds must sell its starting players.

If that number is broken, there could be fines and points deducted; this season, Everton and Nottingham Forest have

already lost points for infractions.

“Until we know the full details, it’s hard to know if a lot of cash has changed hands with this Red Bull deal,” Wyness

stated on Football Insider’s Insider Track program.

“It appears to be equity, sponsorship for shirts, and maybe another type of sponsorship

“I’m not sure how much money will make it to the bottom line.

Leeds is sailing close to the wind since they owe other clubs significant sums of money for players.

As we’ve already said, they’ll need to generate some player revenues to pay for this PSR issue.

“I don’t think they can be saved by this Red Bull arrangement. It’s more of a structural problem.
