BUNDESLIGA CHAMPIONS BAYER LEVERKUSEN SET TO MAKE FIRST SUMMER SIGNING

According to Kicker, a deal to capture Rennes defender Jeanuël Belocian (19) is nearing completion for Bayer

Leverkusen.With 27 appearances in all competitions for the Brittany club last season, the French defender—who can

play both centrally and on the left—is expected to be Bayer’s first summer acquisition.

Florian Plettenberg goes on to say that the Frenchman will sign a five-year contract with Bayer Leverkusen that

expires in 2029 for about €15 million.

Belocian, who was born in Les Abymes, Guadeloupe, made his first team debut at the age of 17 under Bruno Génésio

. “He fits what you’d expect from a modern center-back,” said Bastien Cheval of Get French Football News. “He is

still raw, but versatile as he can play as a left-back, and he’s not afraid to be involved in the build-up.” According to

Kicker, Belocian will continue his development at Die Werkself, where he will compete with Alejandro Grimaldo and

Piero Hincapié. Additionally, with Josip Stanišić returning to Bayern Munich after a loan spell, the Frenchman could

also provide cover centrally in Bayer’s back three.
