In a move that would also be perfect for his career,

former Pompey player Jamal Lowe could become a hero at Fratton Park once more.

John Mousinho’s Pompey team had an excellent first full season,

winning 97 points and losing just five games overall. However, after spending 12 years out of the top division,

the Hampshire team will need to sign experienced Championship players this summer in order to stay in the league.

Pompey re-signing Jamal Lowe would be an ideal move for player and club

After joining Pompey in January 2017, Jamal Lowe was a class act.

Prior to joining the team, he played for non-league Hampton and Richmond,

where he scored 15 goals in 22 games in the National League South, attracting the attention of the League Two team.

At the completion of the 2016–17 fourth-tier season, the Jamaican international scored four goals in 14 games,

helping the Fratton Park team advance from League Two to League One.

The next season, the ace led Pompey to eighth place in their debut season back in the third division

after promotion with six goals and seven assists.

However, it was in the subsequent 2018–19 season that Lowe truly displayed his class, contributing 23 goals in League One by

Although Wigan Athletic, a Championship team at the time, was impressed by Lowe’s achievements,

they signed him before the 2019–20 season even though the Hampshire team was unable to secure promotion that year.

Against a backdrop of financial mismanagement throughout a season interrupted and resumed by Covid-19,

which saw the Latics placed in administration by summer 2020,

the attacker finished with six goals and five assists while playing in Greater Manchester.

Due to financial difficulties, the Latics were forced to sell their player.

As a result, Lowe signed for Welsh team Swansea City, where he enjoyed a successful debut season.

The 29-year-old scored 14 goals in his first season at Liberty Stadium,

helping the Swans finish in the top six even though they were not relegated to the Premier League.

Lowe joined AFC Bournemouth in the summer of 2021. After a stellar 2021/22 season,

the Dorset team was promoted to the top division. Lowe scored seven goals and provided two assists in that campaign.

However, the former Pompey player has not left his imprint in the Premier League and has spent

the previous two seasons on loan at both QPR and Swansea.

After returning to South Wales, Lowe was able to resurrect his Championship form,

tallying nine goals and dishing out three more assists.

He’s

Lowe would be a solid Abu Kamara replacement

While on loan with Mousinho’s team, Norwich City youth academy product Abu Kamara excelled during

Pompey’s recent League One title-clinching campaign.

The 20-year-old’s eight goals and ten assists in the third tier were crucial to the team’s promotion-winning campaign,

but Pompey is unlikely to be able to negotiate a new contract for him given that the new Canaries manager,

Johannes Hoff Thorup, was well-known for bringing up young players to the first team at former club Nordsjaelland.

Lowe, who is not only familiar with the team but also possesses a creative edge and a deadly eye for goal,

would be a good replacement for Kamara.

Lowe and Lane could be a dangerous wide duo

The Jamaican international can play a variety of attacking positions,

but with Paddy Lane and Colby Bishop in the lineup,

he is most likely to be used as a left winger if his previous team decides to re-sign him.

With 21 goals in League One the previous season at Fratton Park,

Bishop demonstrated his clinical ability, while Lane, who finished 2023–24 with 12 goals and seven assists,

has the potential to form a potent flank tandem with Lowe.

In addition, because Lowe is a right-footed player and Lane is a left-footed player,

having two wide players who can both support Bishop and cut inside and shoot would provide

Pompey fans with an entertaining attacking football game to witness in the Championship.
