DONE DEAL- Atletico Madrid confirms £30 million deal for Leonardo Balerdi from Marseille

According to L’Équipe, Atletico Madrid is very interested in Marseille center-back Leonardo Balerdi (25) as they want to bolster their defense this summer. The Stade Vélodrome’s management see the Argentine defender as a potential leader.

With two years left on his Marseille deal, Balerdi should be able to stay with the team until 2026. But if any bids come in this summer, the former Borussia Dortmund defender is open to being considered by prestigious European teams. The Marseille defender has not received any bids yet, but they will probably want a high price for his services.
A possible prolongation of the contract?

Marseille is offering the Argentine international a new two-year contract extension with a pay rise in an attempt to stave off interest from teams like Atlético. It’s unclear if the 25-year-old will take the contract extension or try to sign with a prestigious European team.
