Bruno Guimaraes sends message to Arsenal & Man City over transfer interest

Bruno Guimaraes insists he has no plans to quit Newcastle United this summer, but admits he is unsure how Financial Fair Play would affect the Magpies.

Newcastle must raise more than £30 million in player sales this summer to comply with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules, and teams have expressed interest in key players such as Guimaraes and striker Alexander Isak.

Newcastle are reported to prioritise maintaining Isak, yet they still want to keep Guimaraes despite interest from Arsenal and Manchester City.
However, Guimaraes has stated unequivocally that he does not intend to leave Newcastle this summer.
“Look, my future, to be honest, is in God’s hands,” he told TNT. “I have a contract with Newcastle, and I’m extremely happy. As I previously stated, I know how much they like me and what I’ve done for the club.

“In short, I have a contract, and I’m pleased. I’m not sure what will happen; we know everything about Financial Fair Play, but all I can say is that I’m happy.”

Guimaraes’ contract features a £100 million release clause, but a verbal deal is said to be in place that would allow him to join a Champions League club, such as Arsenal or City, for £80 million.

“Having that [release clause] was well planned and structured by the club,” explained manager Eddie Howe in April.

“We don’t want endless conjecture; it’s not good for the player or us. It goes without saying that we want to keep him, and I hope to grow our team around him.

“His form has been excellent, and he appears to be extremely happy and relaxed. He’ll be thinking about a very busy summer ahead, in which we intend to take the team – and he’ll be a significant part of it. But we don’t have control over it, so let’s see.
