Since leaving West Bromwich Albion, former Manchester United defender Steve Bruce has not held a management position.Prior to the current Premier League season, which begins in August, the Geordie had experience at Newcastle United, which ended tragically, Sunderland, and Wigan. However, he has not attracted any serious interest from elite

clubs thus far.

As they prepare to make their first-ever return to the Premier League, Leicester City is currently operating without a manager. The former United defender seems to have entered the race.

Bruce opens door to Leicester vacancy

The Foxes will now look for a replacement as Enzo Maresca, who signed a five-year contract to succeed Mauricio

Pochettino, left the team on Monday for Chelsea.

The former United defender appeared to make a come-get-me plea to the Midlands club while speaking on talkSPORT.

“I wouldn’t be put off by a point deduction,” he grinned. You already know where I am, Leicester! What a fantastic opportunity that has presented itself all of a sudden.

“Yes, they may be dealing with some issues, but Leicester has been a fantastic team in recent years—not to mention their incredible Premier League victory a few years ago.”

Bruce’s tenure at West Brom ended in failure when his team finished 22nd in the EFL Championship—their lowest

position in over 20 years.

Bruce’s future

Bruce responded to a question on talkSPORT about possible careers other than being the best in a club by saying,

“Either management, or working alongside somebody.” Or I’d like to believe that I would want to respond to a chairman’s query on football.

“I’ve played football for a very long time.” However, I’ve been unemployed for a long winter in this country, so taking

action is the next best thing. Bruce is undoubtedly experienced in the Premier League, but giving the Englishman a job seems risky given the disastrous outcomes of his two prior managerial positions at Newcastle and West Brom.
