Championship side place £4m price tag on head coach

West Bromwich Albion, Pompey’s 2024–25 Championship rivals, have informed newly promoted Leicester City that their head coach Carlos Corberan will cost them between £3.5 million and £4 million in compensation should the Foxes wish to bring him in to replace Enzo Maresca, who is heading to Chelsea.

The Telegraph claims that although Corberan has been regarded highly by the Baggies for some time, Leicester, who is now without a manager, want to bring him to the Premier League for the upcoming season.

Corberan joined Marcelo Bielsa’s backroom staff when he first went to the EFL as Leeds United U21 manager. After making an impression at Huddersfield Town, he left for a brief assignment at Olympiacos. After that, in October 2022, he joined the Terriers to take Steve Bruce’s place, and ever since then, he has grown to be a very well-liked member of the community.

According to The Telegraph, the Baggies will want a fee of almost £4 million, which may act as a “deterrent” given the Foxes’ ongoing financial difficulties. Nonetheless, he remains the front-runner to succeed Maresco.

Shock candidate emerges as Sunderland target
