A new story claims that Stoke City head coach Steven Schumacher is fighting to remain employed at the Bet365 Stadium.

Although the pressure may have decreased after Wednesday’s 1-0 victory against QPR,

the board is still considering possible alternatives.

If the 39-year-old were to leave, Gareth Ainsworth is one name that may have been shortlisted,

but as of right now, there is no sign that this would happen.

That was the Potters’ sixth loss in seven games, and they could actually be sent down to League One now.

Next up for them is Middlesbrough, and another loss may mean the end for Schumacher.

More than 25 years ago, in 1998, was the last time Stoke played in the third division of the football league.

Schumacher, who won League One Manager of the Season with Plymouth the previous season,

would be the most recent of the Potters’ young managers to be fired;

the previous three have been Neil, Nathan Jones, and Gary Rowett.

Stoke has lost six of their past seven games, dropping them into the Championship relegation zone.

When Schumacher, 39, was hired before Christmas,

the club had high hopes that he would emerge from the mud as a forward-thinking young coach.

But with just three victories in 12 league games, he is under tremendous pressure, and Stoke is debating firing the coach.

The Potters are in financial danger following a catastrophic few years, and they are trying to escape relegation.
