Newcastle’s updated stance on Bruno Guimaraes exit revealed
Despite their inability to qualify for Europe, Newcastle United is adamant that Bruno Guimaraes would stay with
the team, sources have told Football Insider.
In a further
setback following Man United’s FA Cup victory, the Magpies placed seventh in the table but were not
allowed to play in the Uefa Conference League.
A £100 million release clause in Guimaraes’ St. James’ Park contract makes him available.
It is a race against time for interested clubs to move in on the Brazil international; that transaction needs to be
finalized by June 30.
Football Insider has learned from a reliable source that Guimaraes’ future is not likely to be affected if he does not
play Conference League football if that condition is not invoked.
The former Lyon player, according to sources, is satisfied with the club’s growth and is settled in Tyneside.
Newcastle adamant on Guimaraes future despite European blow
In October 2023, Guimaraes signed a new contract with Newcastle that would keep him with the team until June
2028.
In the 2023–24 season, he participated in 50 games across all competitions, starting 48 of those games.
this summer.
Newcastle stands to gain a great deal if Guimaraes’ release clause is triggered this summer after agreeing to pay a
rumored possible cost of approximately £40 million to recruit him in January 2022.
In their midfield ranks, the Magpies also feature Sandro Tonali, Joelinton, Joe Willock, Lewis Miley, Sean Longstaff,
and Elliot Anderson.
Also, Liverpool and Newcastle are vying to sign an England Under-21 player.
