Leicester City goalkeeper Danny Ward ‘could’ be moved on this summer along with Daniel Iverson, as detailed in a report by The Athletic.

With their elevation to the Premier League, Leicester City may sever their relationship with the stoppers. They won the championship under Enzo Maresca’s leadership the previous season before he left for Chelsea, and they moved up from the Championship together with Ipswich Town and play-off winners Southampton.
Although Ward, 30, has been employed at King Power Stadium since 2018, he is no longer in high demand. Iverson, on the other hand, was on loan at Stoke City for the second part of the previous season.

According to The Athletic’s most recent update on the two, they may both be permanently sold during the next transfer window. After joining the Foxes from Brøndby IF just over a year ago, Mads Hermansen was their best player in his final season.

Ward’s contract with Leicester City, which runs until 2025, is still pending for another year.

The Sun said that although Sheffield United was interested in him in January, a move to South Yorkshire ultimately fell through.

The Wales international came up through Wrexham’s youth systems and now has 40 caps under his belt.
After that, Liverpool signed him as a young player in 2012, and he later had loan stints at Anfield to further his development at Morecambe, Aberdeen, and Huddersfield Town.

He signed a permanent deal with the Foxes six years ago, and he has since played for them in all competitions, making 47 appearances. He didn’t play for them at all during Maresca’s tenure, though.

Iverson, on the other hand, is likewise lower on the Leicester City hierarchy. After joining them from Esbjerg in 2016, the 26-year-old has made 17 appearances for the main squad.

In the past, in order to gain experience, he was also sent to Oldham Athletic, Rotherham United, OH Leuven, Preston, and Stoke City.

What next for Leicester City duo?

Releasing both Ward and Iverson would allow the Foxes to make room in their roster and free up cash to sign other players as they prepare to return to the top division.

But for the time being, they will be concentrating on selecting the ideal manager.
