In tomorrow’s friendly against Finland, Andy Robertson will attempt to shatter a 67-year record by becoming

the most-capped captain of Scotland.

The Liverpool player is expected to wear an armband as normal when Scotland plays Finland in their final pre-Euros friendly.

And by doing so, he will break the previous record held by George Young, having been selected Scotland captain

for the 49th time.

In September 2018, Robertson started as the captain of the Scots for the first time in a 4-0 home loss to

Belgium. He was twenty-four and it was his 23rd cap.

During his tenure as captain, he has successfully qualified two teams for the European Championships.

In the opening match of Euro 2024 in Munich, he will lead Scotland as captain for the fiftieth time, against Germany.

The Rangers great Young captained Scotland for the first time in 1948 during a 2-0 loss to England at Hampden.

Nine years later, in his final match for his nation, he captained them again in a 2-1 victory in Switzerland.

Billy Bremner, who captained Scotland 39 times, comes in third place on the list.

Darren Fletcher comes in second with 34 caps, and Gary McAllister is third with 32.

In Monday’s 2-0 friendly victory over Gibraltar, Robertson, 30, earned his 70th cap for Scotland.

He has three goals for his country: one each against England, Lithuania, and Cyprus.
