Atletico Madrid has offered a £100 million plus add-on as players request greater playing time, according to the personal terms agreed upon.

In light of rumored Atletico Madrid transfer interest in Julian Alvarez,

Manchester City has a compelling reason to hold onto him.

Due to the injured returns of Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne, as well as Phil Foden’s outstanding play,

the World Cup winner was only able to play a limited part in the second half of the season.

Alvarez played in all competitions for an average of 64.4 minutes per game this season,

however he only managed 19 goals and 13 assists, with 20 of those coming in Premier League play.

The Argentina international was often Pep Guardiola’s hidden weapon,

but after a few absences, he was given more of a prominent role.

In five victories when Haaland was sidelined due to injury,

Alvarez scored four goals and provided one assist, all of which proved to be crucial.

It is hardly surprising that European teams are interested in Alvarez’s services given his effect since moving to Etihad Stadium in January 2022.

Longtime fans of Barcelona, MARCA in Spain is now reporting that Atletico wants to sign the former River Plate great.

With four years remaining on his deal,

Alvarez has more motivation to stay with City than they would have otherwise, as they are already reluctant sellers.

The list of the top 100 most valued players in the world was issued earlier this month by CIES Football Observatories.

Naturally, Jude Bellingham of Real Madrid, valued at €280.4 million (£238.6 million), tops the list.

Erling Haaland, Alvarez’s strike partner,

is right behind him at €255.3 million (£217.2 million).

Rodrygo and Vinicius Jr. are ranked third and fourth, respectively,

while Phil Foden and Bukayo Saka of Arsenal are ranked in the top six.

With his €168.4 million (£143.2 million) valuation,

Alvarez’s name in seventh place might come as a little surprise.

This serves as a sharp reminder of Alvarez’s near-untouchability,

regardless of what Atletico can provide,

particularly in light of Haaland’s uncertain long-term future.
