Tottenham almost made it into the Champions League despite losing Ballon d’Or contender Harry Kane to Bayern

Munich this past summer, thanks to a revitalized assault led by new manager Ange Postecoglou.

Postecoglou and Spurs, however, are understandably still hungry for more and currently have their sights set on one

of the most exciting young prospects in international football.

Spurs and Liverpool are reportedly making the biggest moves to sign 20-year-old attacking midfielder Rayan Cherki

from Lyon, who is prepared to quit the club, according to a Sports Zone report.

In the transfer war between PSG and Liverpool, Tottenham will be the underdog, but there are a few factors that could

go their way.

First off, Mohamed Salah starts on the right side of the attack, and Dominik Szoboszlai as the 10 give Liverpool challenge

for Cherki’s key spots.

Second, Cherki is a target for PSG, although it is unlikely that Lyon will sell to their Ligue 1 rivals. Rather than haggling

with PSG, Monaco and Rennes, for instance, sold their best young players to Real Madrid for a lower price.

In certain games, Cherki might start on the right side of the attack for Kulusevski, or he could take James Maddison’s

spot in the middle.

Cherki was an important member of Lyon’s rotation last season, making 19 starts and 14 substitute appearances,

although he wasn’t a regular starter despite being the team’s most gifted player.

While Lyon was wise to guide Cherki’s development as a teenager, it’s time to let go a little and give Cherki more responsibility.

Because of the demanding schedule and injuries from the previous season, the Ligue 1 team hasn’t done that, and Postecoglou and Tottenham can now take advantage by providing a larger profile in the Premier League and a way

to perhaps more minutes.
