Steve Bruce has made a bold request of Leicester as they start the process of finding a new manager.

Enzo Maresca departed the Foxes to take a five-year contract with Chelsea,

leaving the team without a manager at the moment.

Maresca led the team back to the Premier League after leading them to the Championship title,

but he left after just one season.
Bruce has declared that, should the Leicester position become available,

he would accept it, calling it a “wonderful opportunity.”

The 63-year-old said to talkSPORT, “I wouldn’t be put off by a deduction of points.”

You know where I am, Leicester! What a fantastic opportunity that has presented itself all of a sudden.

“Yes, they may be dealing with some issues, but Leicester has been a fantastic team in recent years—

not to mention their incredible Premier League victory a few years ago.”

After a miserable tenure at The Hawthorns, Bruce was let go by West Brom in October 2022.

The Baggies were in the Championship relegation zone at the time of Bruce’s departure.

Since then, he has been unemployed.

Since starting his coaching career with Sheffield United in 1998,

the former Manchester United defender has managed 12 different teams.

Bruce has twice led Birmingham City and Hull City to the Premier League.

Bruce claims he would be open to being a number two

or taking on roles away from the touchline despite having been out of management for nearly two years.

“I want to do something,” He remarked, “I mean, I’ve had a year off.”

“Working with someone, or managing someone else.”

Or I’d like to imagine that I would want to respond to a chairman’s query on football.

I play [football] for a very long time.

However, I’ve been unemployed for a long winter in this country,

so taking action is the next best thing.

Bruce has overseen over 1,000 games in his 24-year management career,

winning 384 of the 1,032 games he has been in charge of at a win % of 37.2.
