Sporting Lisbon on the verge of signing Celtic’s linked man

Sporting Lisbon is about to sign Greek powerhouse Panathinaikos’ Fotis Ioannidis, who is wanted by Celtic.

This season, Ioannidis has grabbed 23 goals in 44 appearances in all competitions for Panathinaikos,

turning heads with his goal-scoring prowess.

Although he has been linked to several teams, including Scottish champions Celtic,

Ioannidis is not committed to Celtic Park.

Sporting Lisbon is already gaining ground on the Greek striker,

and only a few details need to be worked out, according to French publication Foot Mercato.

Within the following several days,

Ioannidis and his representatives are scheduled to arrive in Portugal.

After that, he will finalize his transition to the Portuguese powerhouses.
Though it’s unknown how far Celtic took their interest in the striker,

Ioannidis is joining a team that has recently shown itself to be astute with its transfer decisions.

Viktor Gyokeres, who cost Sporting Lisbon €20 million to acquire from Coventry City last summer,

has already significantly increased in value.
