Man City and Sheffield Wednesday have cashed in on Reading’s transfer target.

Sheffield Wednesday’s Championship survival has made for an exciting summer for the team.

After a dismal season under Xisco Munoz, the Owls appeared destined to return to League One right away.

However, under Danny Rohl, they made a miraculous comeback and finished 20th in the standings, securing their survival.

Wednesday supporters had feared that Rohl may leave the team this summer, but last week,

the German signed a new long-term contract at Hillsborough, and the next several months will be busy as he attempts to reassemble his team.

While Ciaran Brennan, Reece James, George Byers, Tyreeq Bakinson,

Juan Delgado, and Lee Gregory were released at the conclusion of their contracts, loanees James Beadle, Kristian Pedersen, Jeff Hendrick, Momo Diaby, Ian Poveda, Ike Ugbo, and Ashley Fletcher returned to their parent clubs.

Barry Bannan and Liam Palmer have both agreed to new contracts,

and Rohl will be hopeful that Josh Windass, Will Vaulks, Dominic Iorfa, Cameron Dawson, and Di’Shon Bernard will also sign long-term commitments to the team.

The Owls may need to sell some players who are not in owner Dejphon Chansiri’s plans in order to raise money for new arrivals.

Rohl will be eager to bolster this summer,

but it is unclear how much support he will get given Chansiri’s recent lack of investment.
