Aston Villa ‘lurking’ for signing – Meeting next week key, player wants €6m a year wages

We reported last month on rumors circulating in Italy that Mario Hermoso, an upcoming free agent at Atletico Madrid, has received a substantial offer from Aston Villa.

Mundo Deportivo said on May 7th that Unai Emery has personally contacted the defender on the Villa Park transfer, and that the Villans are in the greatest position to sign him.

Aston Villa, of Calciomercato say, is anticipated to compete with Napoli for the signing of the 28-year-old during the summer transfer window.

Antonio Conte is expected to be named the Serie A team’s new manager. Giovanni Manna, the sports director of Napoli, has begun discussions with Hermoso’s agent and is in the process of presenting him to his management.

Unai Emery’s team and unidentified Saudi Arabian teams are reportedly interested in signing the center back, so Napoli is not the only team in the running.

The Spaniard is reportedly negotiating lucrative offers from the Middle East, and “Aston Villa is always lurking” to sign him.

He is asking for an annual salary of €6 million, but Napoli is only currently willing to pay €3.5 million. It’s possible that Emery’s team can accommodate his request.

Hermoso is reportedly reviewing “many offers”—possibly one from Aston Villa—with his family, according to Calciomercato. Next week, he will meet with his agent to choose the best course of action.
