Rangers eye move for set-piece specialist to replace Barisic

The mass exodus from Ibrox has already started under Philippe Clement, as five players were let go by Glasgow

Rangers when their contracts expired.

The club has extended its best wishes to Borna Barisic, Jon McLaughlin, Ryan Jack, Kemar Roofe, and John

Lundstram as they depart. The Belgian will have plenty of options in the transfer market because he is saving

more than £80,000 a week in salary, even though this means he has a number of holes to fill.

Clement may be losing a lot of experience—more than 500 competitive matches between them—but an attitude

change is needed at Ibrox. While Lundstram and Barisic failed to repeat their previous successes in the 2023–

24 season, Jack and Roofe were sidelined for the most part of the campaign due to injuries.

Clement has previously brought Brazilian left-back Jefte to Glasgow with his signing for the Gers.

Is it possible that they will add one more left-sided defender?

News about Rangers transfers

It seems Clement is not resting on his laurels after Jefte’s statement a few weeks ago, as he aims to complete the

majority of his transfer business as quickly as possible.

Last week, the Daily Record revealed that the Light Blues were interested in signing Chilean defender Thomas

Galdames to a contract in order to bolster their roster.

Since his current contract expires in December, the club may be able to sign him this summer for a lower salary.

After the player was first linked, it seems that he wants to leave his present team, Godoy Cruz in Argentina,

as soon as feasible.

The defender, whose stock is obviously high after being called up by Chile for the forthcoming Copa América,

spoke to Cooperativa Deportes (via the Daily Record) about his future, stating: “I have a contract in Godoy Cruz

until December and my idea is that they sell me now.” I’m hoping the club has the same idea.Although my agent

is working on it, I am only concerned with the games and don’t think about these other difficulties.

The kind of player the club need to be pursuing this summer is Galdames.

At 25, he is on the verge of reaching his career’s pinnacle and is becoming recognized globally for the first time.

When you consider that the defender might be sold for a huge profit a few years from now, it makes sense why

Clement is looking to relocate.
