Despite bids from the Champions League, Newcastle is in advance talks to finalize a deal.

The Telegraph claims that negotiations are underway for Newcastle to finalize the signing of Lloyd Kelly from Bournemouth this week.

The 25-year-old is reportedly being courted by clubs in England and Europe,

some of which are able to offer him Champions League play.

However, Mike McCgrath writes that there is “confidence” that a contract will be finalized after additional talks.

According to The Telegraph, Eddie Howe is eager to sign Kelly after the team lost out on Tosin Adarabioyo, a fellow free agent, over the weekend.

Adarabioyo, a defender for Fulham, chose to join Chelsea instead after receiving a last-minute offer from Stamford Bridge.

Although a deal might be completed this week,

it won’t be made public just yet since Premier League clubs haven’t received the required documentation.

But if everything goes according to plan over the next few days, it’s believed that those records might become public this week.

As a result, an announcement might happen soon.

Howe recruited Kelly from Bristol City for £13 million back in 2019.

He is well-known to Kelly from their time together at Bournemouth,

and he loves both his leadership and his versatility as a center-back and left-back.
