Isaiah Buggs is anticipated to face misdemeanor charges after being accused of animal abuse in Tuscaloosa,

Alabama.

According to a petition obtained by The Patch from Tuscaloosa County District Court, a dog was discovered

abandoned on the back porch of Buggs‘ Tuscaloosa residence on March 28. Documents obtained by The Patch

state that the pit bull was “surrounded in feces, with no access to food or water.”

The Patch reports that during their search of the home, Tuscaloosa Police and Animal Control also discovered a

Rottweiler mix dog kept in a metal cage without access to food or water.

 

According to The Patch, the pit bull’s aggressive behavior and inability to respond to heartworm treatment at

the shelter led to its euthanasia in April. The Patch reports that the 52-pound Rottweiler checked into the

shelter and is still alive.

The Chiefs declined to comment on Buggs’ circumstances when reached on Wednesday afternoon.

The 27-year-old Buggs was cut by the Detroit Lions and signed with the Chiefs in January. He did not play in

any games over the remainder of the season, but he stayed on KC’s practice squad.

The Chiefs signed Buggs to a futures contract in February. The defensive tackle, who weighed 306 pounds and

stood 6-3, spent his last two years of college at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa.

The Chiefs’ tumultuous offseason continued with the report on Wednesday.

After acknowledging his involvement in a recent high-speed collision on a Texas highway, receiver Rashee Rice

is now facing eight counts. After making remarks at a Kansas Catholic college commencement, kicker Harrison

Butker gained national notice.

Wanya Morris and Chukwuebuka Godrick, two offensive linemen with the Chiefs, were both detained and

accused of possessing marijuana two weeks earlier in Kansas.
