Ateef Konate, who has been linked to a transfer to Derby County, has announced his exit from Nottingham Forest.

According to Africafoot, Konate opted to take on a new challenge after failing to make a Premier League appearance for Forest. They say Derby is interested in signing the 23-year-old, while Sunderland, Leeds United, and Huddersfield are also keeping an eye on him.

The midfield player, who was a regular for Forest in the Premier League 2, is reportedly also of interest to Vitesse Arnhem. “It’s time for me to say goodbye,” Konate wrote on Instagram, confirming his resignation from Forest.

“I want to thank everyone who contributed to my progress during these four seasons. Ups and downs, but that’s what this job requires. I will remember the positives for the rest of my life. Thank you Reds.”

Konate scored six goals and registered three assists for Forest’s reserves having joined the club from the famed Le Havre where he came up through their famed academy. He made one senior appearance for Forest in the league which came in a 3-0 win over Barnsley back in 2022. He has also featured in the EFL Cup.

Konate also spent time on loan at Oxford United where he made five appearances in the 2022/23 season.
