Atletico Madrid make move to sign Paris Saint-Germain midfielder

This summer, Atletico Madrid is eager to bolster its midfield.

Although they are expected to pursue a holding midfielder on a permanent basis,

a loan might be a convenient solution given the uncertainties around the cost.

Manuel Ugarte, a midfielder for Paris Saint-Germain, had a strong first season in the French capital,

but in the second half of the season, Luis Enrique reduced him to a supporting role.

If PSG is willing to make a trade, Cadena Cope claims that Atletico would be interested in signing Ugarte on loan this summer.

For the same position, Los Colchoneros have also been connected to moves for Guido Rodriguez and Mats Wieffer;

but, as of right now, neither of them appears to be making any progress.

Given that Ugarte is Uruguayan, he would likely match Diego Simeone’s usual preference for Atletico’s resilient players,

and the position is unquestionably in need. Ugarte would only be a short-term fix,

leaving Los Rojiblancos in the same situation for the upcoming campaign.
