Report:18-year-old Leeds United midfielder to sign a €24.7 million contract with Bundesliga; personal terms agreed
Bundesliga giants to make move for Archie
Leading Bundesliga team Bayern Munich is preparing an attempt to lure Elland Road’s emerging star Archie
Gray away from the stadium, as several press reports this morning indicate. Liverpool (among others) will
undoubtedly present the Bavarians with fierce opposition, which may spark a bidding war this summer.
Although his contract expires in June 2028, Leeds is reportedly working on a new agreement to deter poachers
from their prized player.
Archie had a breakout season, logging over 4500 minutes in the field and solidifying his place in Daniel Farke‘s
lineups. He came within a hair’s breadth of being the youngest Leeds player to score (against Leicester at
home), but the referee called it an own goal. Properly, his Uncle Eddie still holds the record!
As reconstruction gets underway, sentiment must be abandoned.
Even though Archie had a great season with the Whites last year, Leeds needs to raise money in order to
develop a team that can win the league automatically the following year. Leeds has paid a heavy price due to
growing debt and their inability to get promoted back to the top division. Though selling Summerville for £25
million, Rutter for £25 million, Harrison for £18 million, Gnonto for £15 million, Roca for £5 million, and
Wober for £10 million will hopefully raise around £100 million, they may still fall short as Daniel Farke seeks to
assemble a side that can win right away.
With his emotions completely out of the window, Archie only contributed two assists for the entire season—
hardly anything that truly affected the outcome. Although he didn’t truly stand out like Rodon or Ampadu did,
he showed great ability in his more comfortable midfield role on the odd addition.
Rather than his achievements on the field, fans and commentators have grown fixated on his age and potential.
Even if he is always becoming better, Leeds needs players who can impact outcomes right now. Selling him
would allow them to generate over £40 million, and if they spent that money well, they could add four or five
players who would significantly strengthen the team.
We have everything we require to compete.
Elland Road Chairman Paraag Marathe has backed Daniel Farke entirely to return the Whites back to the top
flight, saying in his first interview since losing out on promotion that he is happy to live at the limitations of
profits and sustainability. Leeds has unpaid transfer debt of £190 million, the majority of which 49ers
Enterprises took up from the last administration. The sales of Tyler Roberts and Luis Sinisterra are not
included in this. While Marathe declined to comment on Archie Gray, he acknowledged that P&S made it
necessary to sell players.
