OFFICIAL: Wayne Rooney officially appointed ‘new’ Nottingham Forest manager following Nuno’s dismissal – Fabrizio Romano

Now that he’s been informed of Nuno Espirito Santo‘s future at Nottingham Forest, Daniel Taylor has spoken out about it.

After taking over as head coach at Forest in December, the fifty-year-old managed to keep the team in the Premier League.

In his twenty-six games as manager, he presided over seven victories, two of which came in the last three games of the season.

Espirito Santo wasn’t safe at Forest, according to some recent reports from Fabrizio Romano; now, Taylor has shared what he heard.

Daniel Taylor shares what he’s heard about Nuno Espirito Santo

The Forest-supporting journalist has been delivering a question and answer session today like on The Athletic’s website.

One supporter asked about the future of Espirito Santo and Taylor has now gone into detail over what he knows.

It would appear as though the signs are positive – at least for now – regarding Forest boss Espirito Santo.

“I’ve been told Espirito Santo is staying at Forest, despite the recent flurry of speculation and rumors,” he stated to The Athletic. Still, it’s not quite that simple… It’s Forest, it’s football, and anything can happen. However, that’s my knowledge, and I’ll attempt to clarify some of the background.

“Firstly, it’s in his favour that the players like him. He’s done a good job on that front if you remember the report out of Wolves for example that he and Morgan Gibbs-White were not close.

“There’s also a fair bit of nonsense. One story recently was that Marinakis had instructed Jorge Mendes to find him a new manager. Er, we do know that Nuno is a Mendes client, don’t we?

“Nuno has made some questionable decisions in some matches. The results haven’t been brilliant and I don’t think it’s helped that Oliver Glasner, who went head to head with Nuno for the job, has been so impressive with Crystal Palace.”

Head coach deserves full season with Forest

For what it’s worth, we think Espirito Santo ought to be given time at Forest as well, considering that Cooper was given a couple terrible runs in the Premier League.

In the end, the former manager of Tottenham and Wolves is a seasoned coach, and he merits a full preseason.

In addition, he deserves the opportunity to select his own players since he wants to add balance to the team.

It’s not like Forest needs another turbulent summer, and Espirito Santo will have a soothing effect on the team’s locker room come season.

Evangelos Marinakis might argue to fire him if he does make his own plans and things don’t improve for the upcoming season.

For now, however, Forest are in safer hands with Espirito Santo than they are without him.
