Leeds United to sell Five players after missing out on Premier League cash windfall
Leeds United could be forced to sell over £100million worth of players to ensure they comply with financial regulations next season
Leeds United won’t be playing in the Premier League next season, thus they will have an uncertain summer.
The Whites were defeated by Southampton in the Championship play-off final last Sunday afternoon at
Wembley. Though Daniel James struck the crossbar late in the game, Adam Armstrong’s goal in the first half
proved to be the game’s deciding move.
According to Deloitte, Daniel Farke‘s team lost out on a possible £265 million financial infusion in the most
profitable game in world football. This would have allowed Leeds to reinvest in their player roster. But with
another season of football in the lower leagues approaching, the Yorkshire club may have to let go of a few of
their top players from this campaign.
Leeds is reportedly owed other clubs approximately £190 million in transfer fee installments; of that amount,
£73 million is anticipated to be paid by the end of the following month. According to some estimates, player
sales will need to bring in at least £100 million this summer. Leeds Live has a list of players who may be leaving
Elland Road during the transfer season.
The Summerville Crysencio
After joining the team in 2020, the Championship Player of the Year has experienced a season of maturation
with the Whites. In 49 games this season, the 22-year-old has scored 21 goals and given 10 assists for Farke’s
team.
The Dutchman is regarded as one of Leeds’ most prized assets, and several Premier League teams are rumored
to be interested in signing him, even though he signed a new contract in August 2022. Summerville had been
linked to Liverpool and Chelsea during the season; once the Whites’ season ended, potential suitors Newcastle
United and Aston Villa emerged.
Summerville cost an estimated £1.3 million when he arrived from Feyenoord, and the Yorkshire club will profit
handsomely. The attacker’s estimated value is between £30-£40 million, which would help them somewhat
offset the rumored £100 million they need to raise.
Rutter struggled in his first half a year at Elland Road, but this term he has proved his abilities. The Frenchman
signed a five-year contract with Yorkshire during the January transfer window of 2023 for a club record price.
Another gifted attacker for the Whites, the 20-year-old enjoyed a successful campaign under Farke’s direction.
The Italy international scored nine goals in 44 appearances in all competitions last season, and the Yorkshire
club considered his arrival from Zurich in 2022 to be an incredible coup.
