Wayne Rooney admits Celtic regret as Manchester United legend wishes he played for Hoops

When asked which team he would have preferred to play for, England icon Wayne Rooney revealed that his

biggest regret is never having played for Celtic.

The Manchester United and England legend had an incredible career. He started at Everton at the age of 16,

moved to the Red Devils, and went on to win Premier League crowns, FA Cups, and a Champions League.

Along with a return to Everton and a time in the States with DC United, he also accrued 120 caps and 53 goals.

The freshly hired manager of Plymouth Argyle has a busy career. Not satisfied with that, though, he wishes he

had at some point been able to don the renowned hoops. At different stages of their careers, Celtic had players

such as Roy Keane, Robbie Keane, Dion Dublin, Ian Wright, Freddie Ljungberg, and Joe Hart, with differing

degrees of success.

But if the club had known at any point that Rooney was interested in playing for them,

he might have been included to that list. He could have been the most well-known of the group.

During his interview with Gary Neville on The Overlap, Rooney fielded numerous rapid-fire questions.

Neville was taken aback when his friend asked him which team he wished he had played for.

And Rooney answered, “Celtic I would say. Neville went on: “Italian? Whoa. Celtic supporters,

you were missing out.”
