Newcastle United player expresses desire to leave ahead of transfer window

Following a good loan stay, Ryan Fraser of Newcastle United said that he would like to play for Southampton

again once the Saints made it back to the Premier League on their first attempt.

The 30-year-old winger made 44 appearances while on loan at Southampton in 2023–24, scoring eight goals.

Prior to his loan transfer last summer, Fraser had been deemed surplus to requirements and was prohibited

from playing for the Newcastle first team.

With one year remaining on his contract, the Magpies intend to permanently cut loose the midfield player this

summer.

In his farewell letter, Fraser also mentioned how much he would like to visit St. Mary‘s again.

Fraser shared the following on his Instagram account:

“What can I say, Saints fans? From the moment I walked into this incredible club till now, when we have both

succeeded in moving on to the Premier League. I could only have imagined of celebrating with all of you at

Wembley in the most amazing way.

“I’m so grateful to everyone for your support and for making this the best year of my life so far!”From the

manager, who has done so much to foster a sense of family among us all by bringing the team together both on

and off the field. Each employee who contributes to the club’s daily progress.

“I hope we can spend the upcoming season together creating more history, but who knows what this summer

will bring. If not, I wish this club all the best.”

This summer at St. James’ Park, players like Callum Wilson, Miguel Almiron, Martin Dubravka, and a few

others are probably going to be shown the door.

Newcastle must use the transfer window wisely in order to abide by the Profit and Sustainability Rules set forth

by the Premier League.

Meanwhile, the Saints won’t have any trouble completing a permanent deal for Fraser this summer given the

benefit of Premier League promotion and the associated financial incentive.
