According to reports, Leon Balogun and the Rangers have agreed to a new one-year contract deal.

After spending a year at QPR, the 35-year-old experienced defender was brought back to Ibrox by Michael Beale last summer.

The seasoned Balogun has always expressed his desire to stay longer with the team,

but the out-of-contract stopper was in danger of leaving as the Gers were getting ready for an end-of-season makeover.

The Scottish Sun, however, claims that Philippe Clement has been impressed with Balogun’s efforts,

and the Nigerian international has inked a contract that would keep him with the team into the next season.

In the upcoming weeks, the Gers plan to bolster their central defense options,

and Jose Cordoba of Levski Sofia is reportedly top of their wish list.

John Souttar, Connor Goldson, Ben Davies, and Leon King are also signed with the Light Blues,

but it’s possible that one or more of them may go. Nevertheless, Dujon Sterling, a utility player, can also play center defense.

The contracts of John McLaughlin, Borna Barisic, Ryan Jack, and John Lundstram are up,

and the three loan players, Oscar Cortes, Abdallah Sima, and Fabio Silva,

are expected to return to their original clubs. Clement has said that he would prefer to keep Sima and Cortes at the team.
