Leeds United have parted ways with Daniel Farke after losing championship play-off against Southampton

Phil Hay has disclosed that the 49ers Enterprises are “minded to stick with” Daniel Farke,

despite Leeds United’s playoff final defeat to Southampton.

The Whites were unable to earn promotion back to the Premier League on their first attempt,

falling 1-0 to Southampton at Wembley Stadium.

However, the club’s owners believe in the manager they recruited last summer and have even “discussed plans for pre-season” with him.

Hay wrote for The Athletic (26 May): “Sources close to the 49ers have stated over the last few weeks that they were willing to continue with Farke even if the season ended.

“He has three years left on his contract, and Leeds’ owners believe the overall picture of his performance is positive, despite Sunday’s loss.

They admire his demeanour and disposition, and they appreciate that he doesn’t frequently get himself into controversy with the media.

“They’ve already discussed preseason preparations in Europe.

Furthermore, they have heavily supported him up to this point, including recruitment and a squad that Farke explicitly requested.

The overall findings were quite strong.”

Are Leeds United correct to continue with Daniel Farke?

Despite the disappointment of missing out on promotion,

Farke has made a compelling case for himself to continue leading Leeds from the dugout in the coming seasons.

The whites generated an exceptionally impressive domestic season in which they accrued 90 points and posted the division’s second-best defensive record,

conceding just 43 times in 46 Championship games.

However, they were unable to gain automatic promotion because Ipswich Town (96 points) and Leicester City (97 points) had superior seasons.
