Howe is regarded by Newcastle United officials as the team’s leader for the upcoming season and beyond,

even though there are rumors that he is still under pressure on Tyneside.

Newcastle is currently in eighth place in the Premier League table after destroying a tough-to-beat Wolves team 3-0 on Saturday.

However, they are still 15 points behind Aston Villa in fourth place in the race for Champions Lague qualification.

In what has been a very turbulent campaign, Howe has faced a great deal of adversity this season.

The Magpies crashed out of the Champions League in December,

finishing bottom of their group to miss out on any European football altogether for the rest of the season as a result.

Their February losses to Luton, Bournemouth, and Arsenal also placed them in 10th place in the standings,

possibly putting Howe in danger of losing his job.

In fact, there have been rumors that the team may want to replace Howe with someone like current Germany manager Julian Nagelsmann.

Football Insider claims that the Public Investment Fund, Newcastle’s Saudi owners,

is certain the Englishman can help the team reach its long-term objectives of becoming a

consistent contender in Europe and eventually a title contender in the Premier League.

In light of this, Howe is not anticipated to be under any form of pressure to be

fired in the summer despite having a poor season at St. James’ Park.

According to the article, Toon executives are happy with Howe’s development at the team and

won’t be worried if they don’t make it into the Champions League this year.

They have also considered the debilitating injury crisis that the player has had during the campaign.

Just after the win over Wolves, captain Kieran Trippier was changed,

and it seems that same problem has reared its ugly head once more.

And when sked about the England man ater the match, Howe commented: “Kieran felt something in his calf and had to come off the pitch.

That is a concern for us, although I don’t know how serious it is at this moment.”

Howe to be backed in summer market

Meanwhile, Football Insider adds that Howe is now expected to be heavily backed by

the board this summer after being restricted in their spending in January due to their Financial Fair Play obligations.

Newcastle have been tipped to bring in another centre-back, a central midfielder and
a striker this summer as Howe looks to bolster the spine of his side.
