Chelsea’s spot in the UEFA Conference League has been guaranteed following Manchester United’s FA Cup final victory over Manchester City,

and the club will now seek to appoint a new head coach.

Since Mauricio Pochettino‘s departure on Wednesday,

the Blues have been widely linked with a number of prospects for the vacant position at Stamford Bridge.

Kieran McKenna and Enzo Maresca have emerged as early frontrunners for the role,

while Roberto De Zerbi is still a fan favourite.

However, it remains to be known who will succeed the former Tottenham Hotspur manager.

In other news, the summer transfer window opens next month,

and the west Londoners are set to welcome a few new players to the Cobham training site.

Despite having spent hundreds of millions in previous years, the Blues’ spending spree could continue.

So, with that said, football.london has compiled the most recent Chelsea news and transfer rumours for Sunday, May 26.

Roberto De Zerbi, Manager of Brighton & Hove Albion, looks on prior to the Premier League match between Brighton & Hove Albion and Aston Villa at American Express Community Stadium on May 05, 2024

De Zerbi seeks European glory.

Roberto De Zerbi has previously expressed his desire to win the Premier League,

Serie A, Bundesliga, La Liga, and Champions League.

Following Mauricio Pochettino’s departure from Brighton earlier this month,

the Brighton manager has been linked with taking over at Chelsea.

De Zerbi told Sky Sports in February: “We believe we can write another chapter in Brighton’s history.

It’s an honour to learn that huge teams are interested in me. I’m proud, yet my emphasis is on  my work day-by-day.

“In my career, I’d like to compete for the Premier League, Serie A, Bundesliga, La Liga, and Champions League,

but there isn’t a period when you have to go and compete or wait some more time.

Milan is not your typical club since, as a player, I was born at AC Milan.

The Italian went on to say, “For the rest of my life, I’ll be grateful to Milan.”

I love my nation, Italy, and Italian football. One of my goals is to return to my home country and work,

although I’m not sure when that will happen.

According to football.london, “I’d love to see Roberto De Zerbi take over as Chelsea manager.

Not only is the Italian tactically impressive, impressive and a character,

he’s previously worked closely with some big names in the squad. Mykhailo Mudryk. Moises Caicedo. Levi Colwill. Exciting times.”
