With the confirmation of Brazilian defender Jefte’s arrival on Friday night,

Rangers intend to add two more players before the end of May. Jefte’s arrival marks the start of significant transfer activity at Ibrox.

The 20-year-old left-back, who played on loan for Cypriot First Division winners APOEL last season,

is joining from Fluminense. Manager Philippe Clement stated, “Jefte is an exciting young defender,

and I am delighted that he has joined our squad so early in the summer period.” Although Jefte has agreed to a four-year contract,

The agreement is contingent to international clearance and the approval of a work permit application.

Rangers has not released the conditions of the move.

and director of football recruitment Nils Koppen was able to move quickly ahead of

the summer transfer window thanks to the preparations done in the winter.

“We are making plans for the future, and Jefte—a young, talented player—will be essential to that,” Koppen stated.

“We are putting in a lot of work behind the scenes,

and being able to start operations early as we get ready for the 2024–25 season is really beneficial for both Philippe and his coaching staff.”

Next week, while the team works out deals for center-half Jose Cordoba and goalkeeper Liam Kelly,

the Rangers may add two more players to their roster.

Kelly, a former member of the Rangers academy, has announced that he will be leaving Motherwell when his contract expires.

The 28-year-old, who is a member of Scotland’s preliminary Euro 2024 team,

is rumored to have received a three-year contract offer from Rangers.

He would replace current No. 1 Jack Butland as backup. The Panamanian defender Cordoba,

who presently plays for Levski Sofia in Bulgaria, is also expected to join the goalie.

Norwich City is also after the left-sided player, who is 22 years old.

But according to sources from the player’s home country, he has decided on Rangers.

Following an agreement between the two clubs on a cost estimated to be in the neighborhood of £3 million,

a physical is scheduled over the following days.

The contracts of two more defenders, Borna Barisic and Leon Balogun, are also up for renewal.

The former has been strongly linked to a transfer to Besiktas, as is midfielder John Lundstram,

whose contract expires the following month. After this weekend’s Scottish Cup final against Celtic,

the contracts of Oscar Cortes and Abdallah Sima expire, while midfielder Ryan Jack is unlikely to have his agreement extended.

Kemar Roofe, the striker, has announced his departure from Ibrox,

but it’s unclear what will happen to players like Ianis Hagi and Sam Lammers, who were both out on loan this season.
