Rob McElhenney discusses what the Wrexham players personally told him about their prospects in League One.

The players’ private conversations with Rob McElhenney, the owner of Wrexham, on their prospects of vying for promotion in League One have been made public.

Wrexham had a lavish Las Vegas party to commemorate their club record second successive promotion.

With games to spare, the Reds wrapped up their return to League One, and they are already preparing for their biggest test to date.

Although Wrexham’s larger budget in League Two caused rival supporters to feel envious, the difference has narrowed dramatically in League Two.

Battle-tested third-tier teams Barnsley, Peterborough United,

and Bolton Wanderers will face Phil Parkinson’s team, while Birmingham City and Huddersfield Town—two teams demoted from the Championship—should contend for promotion.

Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds are aware that this advancement calls for a major personnel upgrade,

bringing in top-tier League One players.

Their confidence in securing a record third promotion in a row hasn’t wavered despite the lack of many solid connections to players thus far.

However, McElhenney acknowledges that with so many teams vying for the same prize,

playing in the third tier will be their hardest test to date.

Over the past few years, Wrexham has possessed an unbeatable mindset,

and their ability to perform under duress has helped them succeed in both League Two and the National League.

League One will demand a similar unwavering mentality,

as McElhenney says the Wrexham players think they have a genuine chance to contend for the top spot once more.

The star of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia stated, “Well, I mean, not that it wasn’t real before,

but now it gets really real,” in an interview with the Welsh television network S4C.

“The League One division is really competitive.

The Championship saw the rise of numerous outstanding clubs, and League One will undoubtedly be more competitive than it was the previous season.

“However, after spending time with Phil and the boys in Vegas,

I noticed that they believe we have a chance to return to the top.”
