Nuno Espirito Santo suitors hope he can be ‘tempted’ amid Nottingham Forest uncertainty

Nuno Espirito Santo is still said to be leaving Nottingham Forest, possibly returning to Spain or Portugal.
When Forest defeated Burnley on the final day of the Premier League season, they successfully maintained their top-flight status. With a six-point margin in the end (which could have been as high as ten if the club’s point deduction hadn’t applied), Nuno’s future under supervision can only be looked forward to with great confidence.

But earlier this week, rumors surfaced suggesting that there are still unanswered questions as the Portuguese coach negotiates difficult terms with the ownership for his continued presence at the City Ground. Under the terms of the contract he signed back in December, he now has two years left.

Subsequently, according to Mail Online, clubs in La Liga and Liga Portugal are keeping an eye on the issue in case there’s an opportunity to get the manager. This comes after the manager of Forest was connected to the Bayern Munich position, which appears to be going to Vincent Kompany of Burnley.

According to the article, Nuno’s efforts since joining City Ground have been greatly appreciated by the management, but he may be tempted away from his current position by a club from either country on the Iberian Peninsula. Nuno managed Valencia from 2014 to 2015 and has coaching experience at both Rio Ave and FC Porto in his native country.

Although there is no word of any new clubs expressing a specific interest, it is more possible that a position will open up within the vicinity of Portugal’s three dominant teams. Both Ruben Amorim of Sporting CP and Sergio Conceicao of Porto are well-liked around Europe after being connected to other teams; Benfica, under German coach Roger Schmidt, finished 10 points behind the former previous season.

With a crucial summer approaching, Forest needs to make decisions quickly. They can choose to break up with their existing manager and start over under a new banner, or they can support him all the way to field a team that can compete at a higher level than the Premier League’s relegation dogfight.
