Southampton’s Che Adams and Ross Stewart were absent from the club’s training video for this weekend’s play-off final against Leeds United.

Both forwards have had injury concerns recently,

with Adams picking up an issue in the 2-1 win over Leeds at Elland Road earlier this month,

and Scotland international Stewart missing the majority of the season.

Neither player was featured in the Saints’ in-house training video,

which was posted on the club’s official app this week,

putting doubt on their availability for this weekend’s match at the home of football.

After missing the 3-1 semi-final second leg victory against West Bromwich Albion last weekend,

manager Russell Martin has already stated that Adams will be available ‘in some capacity’ for the Wembley final.

“He’ll be involved. He will undoubtedly play, whether starting or on the bench.

“For him, the risk eventually outweighed the gain because he still felt something.

“Fair play to him; he said he’d try. He said, ‘If I’m needed, I’ll give you 10 minutes, 15 minutes, or anything.’

“He will be ready in some capacity for the final,” the Saints manager stated.

Martin was upbeat about Stewart, assuaging fears that he had sustained another injury:

“He’s great. He suffered a blow in the first leg,

but he’s been training and was only going to be used tonight [versus West Brom] if absolutely necessary.

“We expect him to be totally fit and recovered in time for the final as well.

It might be two very large alternatives for us.”

It remains to be seen whether Martin’s robust fitness pronouncements come true on Sunday;

in the meantime, Leeds striker Patrick Bamford faces a race against time to recover from a knee injury suffered last month.
