Arsenal finally agree to part ways with Albert Sambi Lokonga after talks over future

Albert Sambi Lokonga and Arsenal have decided to split this summer after discussions on the Belgian’s future.

Lokonga, who played on loan at Luton this season, is prepared to depart permanently in pursuit of playing for a first-team squad.

After being demoted from the Premier League, Luton would really like to maintain the midfield player,

but their possibilities of doing so seem limited.

Following some strong performances during the season,

Lokonga will be hoping to draw a lot of attention this summer.

Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp praised the 24-year-old for his strong midfield pairing with Ross Barkley at Luton.

“When you watch Lokonga play and you figure, ‘Oh, he’s an Arsenal guy, and they loaned him?’ Interesting,

” Klopp remarked prior to Liverpool’s match against Luton in February.

For over £15 million, Lokonga left Anderlecht in 2021 to join Arsenal, but he hasn’t exactly been a major player.

The midfield player spent the second half of the 2022–23 season on loan to

Crystal Palace after finding his opportunities under Mikel Arteta to be limited.

Lokonga was informed last summer that Burnley had shown early interest in him and

that he would not be included in Arsenal’s first team plans.

But Luton won the race to recruit him after manager Rob Edwards made a presentation to him at his house,

and Luton arrived late in the transfer window.

Since then, Lokonga has had discussions with Arsenal before the summer,

and everyone has decided it is best to split ways at this time.
