Rangers defender Borna Barisic looks likely to be left out by Croatia ahead of the 2024 UEFA European Championship.

The left-back’s six-year tenure at Ibrox is expected to end this summer with a move to Turkish team

Trabzonspor, according to the Scottish Daily Mail (page 71, May 22).

After this most recent rejection, it appears that Barisic’s career with the Gers is likewise ended,

as is his likelihood of playing at the Euros.

The 35-time capped defender hasn’t played for his country since last October, so Zlatko Dalic merely put him on

the standby list for Croatia ahead of the major event in Germany.

Borna Barisic is in pain at Ibrox following a patchy season with the Rangers.

Barisic appears to be suffering as a result of his subpar Rangers performance.

Not only is he about to quit Scottish football, but unless something unexpected happens in the last minute,

it appears he won’t be playing for his nation in this year’s Euros.

Given that a move to Turkey is certain, Barisic may have already played his final Croatian match.

Given that he won’t have as many chances to make an impression while playing for Trabzonspor and that his

32nd birthday is quickly approaching, it’s possible that Barisic’s career is coming to an end.

Perhaps most Ibrox supporters won’t be too surprised by it after such a patchy season with the Gers.

Nevertheless, that won’t make things any easier for the departing Rangers player in front of what appears to be

a significant summer of transition.
